Rugby World Cup - Wales vs Aus images from UCRs Richard Cashin
19 Sep 2007
Well, I made it across the pond and was hit by the unfavourable exchange rate. Not much to say about the confrontation between England and South Africa in Paris. My attempt to secure a flight, train, donkey or space on the shuttle was unsuccessful so I ended up staying in London to watch that game.
Saturday – train to Cardiff, standing room only, was akin to a commuter service from any Sydney suburb. London could be defined as a new Australian state! There were however two folks from the United States, though not rugby fans themselves were delighted to be part of the third largest sporting event in the World. They have not intended to visit the Welsh capital for rugby but soon were invited to join the World Rugby Club.
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff – what a stage for this encounter. A crowd almost even in numbers of fans from both nations. A sell out, with the roof drawn closed at the request of Australia, apparently an attempt to even the home advantage for Wales despite the sunny conditions outside! The light for photo work was not the best but hey it is what it is. Both sides were greeted with a rapturous roar – this could be a home game for either side.

Just got an email from Dave
Just got an email from Dave Williams, Strength and Conditioning Coach for the USA team who is with them in France. He says the experience has been great, and they will not underestimate Samoa, but believes they have a real chance against them.
I have Wales v Japan
I have Wales v Japan tomorrow, then up to Edinburgh for the Scotland v New Zealand (Scotland by 3 points!! Ha ha!). Then I have to make my way down to France for the USA games. Travel here can be hard to book at this late stage, but I hope I can get there.
Edinburgh was completely booked up for rooms so I am staying in Glascow or as they call it GlasVegas! Just a shortish train ride away. I hope to meet up with an ex-Boston Wolfhound there.
Well done Paddy! Make sure
Well done Paddy!
Make sure you get to the next USA game!!
