What An Opportunity To Have Your Say
10 Sep 2007
The East Coast kicks off their respective competition's this weekend and it will be as intrigiung as ever.
This website is going to give you, as a rugby enthusiast, an opportunity to have your say on the state of the college game.
If there has been a special moment in a game TELL US all about it. If there is a player that has exceptional ability in your team and has been overlooked by USA selectors, here is your opportunity to let everybody know. If you are unhappy with the competition structure, poor refereeing, poor administration and no one is listening this may be your opportunity. You may want to congratulate a team, a coach, a player that doesn't get any recognition for their hours of hard work, here's your opportunity to do that.
This website is designed to pull the USA College Rugby community together in an effort to promote the game and to improve the game.
Have fun!!

-> My opinion is that the governing Administration needs to be more 'HANDS ON' with individual organizations, esp. ones which are run solely by players without aide of advisers. They should mimic NCAA for the most part since they are THE major powerhouse administration for collegiate athletics, and USARugby should make certain alterations to better accompany our sport. One major change that could be made for the better would be regarding the various facets & issues regarding referee disbursement. I feel that referees should have the ability to ref the game based on their interpretation of the laws, HOWEVER it may be beneficial to allow for looser play in some matters(i.e. mouthing off to the ref. should be penalized, but maybe each team receives 2warning before awarding a penalty try to the other side. Multiple infractions slows the game and takes the focus from the match to the official.
Also, perhaps the Ref. society could benefit by becoming a branch in the USAR entity; they should merge and only then would it be appropriate to have USAR retrieve funds for SERRS.
-The penalty for endangering the life of another should ABSOLUTELY render a more severe consequence/suspension then a non-contact(verbal) violation. I.E. a player who stomps an opponent should receive a more severe penalty than a Coach who "verbally abused" a referee. Being present, I know what the coach said and although it may have been rude, it was not that rude... and furthermore I do not know of ANYTHING he could have said that would have justified a suspension which lasts longer than that received for stomping on an opponent.

Our former coach at NCSU was suspended until 2011 because of REF ABUSE related events and our current coach deserves all the thanks and credit in the world for keeping out squad together and leading us to a state championship in the following year. He takes time out of his day to come and spread the good word, otherwise known as rugby... and for no compensation. Cheers to Coach Jeremy Goodwin
