NRU Playoffs - Who Will Challenge Army?
30 Oct 2006
The pairings for the NRU playoffs have been announced. Army, Norwich, USMMA and Cornell are on one side of the bracket and Boston College, Syracuse, Buffalo and Harvard will battle it out on the other side.
Army shouldn't have too many problems getting through to the final, but who they'll play will be the main focus point. Boston College will be favorites to challenge Army for the title but they have had a form slump in the last two weeks, struggling to beat Norwich and then they were outclassed by Army.
SUNY Buffalo will be competitive as they always are at this stage of the season. They have already scored 264 points this season while only conceding 32. They weren't scored against until the 5th round of the New York State competition. Their game this weekend against Harvard will be a real ding dong encounter. With parents weekend scheduled and mid term examinations to sit, and a 7 hour bus trip to encounter, Harvard may have to play without many of their top players. This would be disappointing as Harvard have found some good form over the last couple of weeks.
This is how the 8 teams in the NRU are seeded:
- Army (7-0)
- Buffalo (8-0)
- Boston College (6-1)
- USMMA ( 4-0)
- Cornell (5-2-1)
- Syracuse (5-2-1)
- Harvard (4-3)
- Norwich 4-3)
This weekends Fixtures:
Norwich at Army
Cornell at USMMA
Syracuse at Boston College
Harvard at Buffalo
