Match Report - Amherst vs Norwich
28 Oct 2006
It was a really hard-fought game with the lead changing hands at regular
intervals. Both teams had few problems attacking with the ball, which
resulted in the game moving from end to end of the field at a rapid pace.
With less than ten minutes left in the game, the Amherst team pulled ahead
through Parnell Adam's second try, which Jeremy Decuir converted to put
Amherst ahead by one point. With just over two minutes of play left,
however, Norwich managed to score an unconverted try to pull ahead 30-26.
Both backlines ran exceptionally well with the ball and made inroads all
game. In the coming weeks, both sides are going to need to work on their defences in order to remain competitive.
The Amherst scorers were as follows:
Tries: Parnell Adam (2), Dale du Preez, Garrett Snedeker
Conversions: Jeremy DeCuir (3) - though I think that might have been two conversions and a penalty.
