The Mustangs won their third game in a row this weekend against CSU Long Beach, 61-5. Poly has outscored their last three opponents (UCSB, UCSD, and Long Beach) a combined 192-8.

Some might say that’s impressive; Poly remains humble and claims that it was "just business as usual." There were 9 trys scored throughout the game, which means Wing Martine Phelan knocked 8 out of 9 conversions through the goal posts. When asked where he learned to kick so accurately, Martine gave credit to watching Bend It Like Beckham "too many times to count.

"
The 9 trys were scored by a variety of players from the back line and forward pack. The game was played tighter than usual, with the ball rarely making it very far down the back line. Forward players adding to the board included Flanker Jesse Dundon, Prop Gabe Escalera, Lock Kurt Puder, Flanker Ben Cannon and rookie Prop Aaron Bordenave. Backline trys came from Outside Center Jeff Van Meter, Inside Center Luke Council, and Wing Jared "Smiley" Gamm. Poly has one more regular season game next weekend against USD at the Cal Poly Sports Complex at 1:00 pm.
